Believe is an extended suite in two parts, consisting of individual songs and instrumentals connected by segues. The suite is thematically tied by recurring musical passages and lyrics which are much like entries in the diary of a relationship. It was the first "Steve Unruh" solo project, and had the good fortune to be recorded and co-produced by Ron Tozier, who had just finished constructing his studio and decided to make Believe the album to show what the new studio could do. The mastering is intentionally uncompressed, thus Believe has a bit of a classical tinge to its sound, with a low overall volume and hence a huge dynamic range.
